-moderate volume in relation to the whole sound piece: raise volume of convo w rob clips to the end. when there is only one voice the volume should always be +10 which means I have to put a compressor on Rob’s voice.
compress STE-008 and raise clip volumes to +10, amplify STE-009 and raise clip volumes to +10
recording of Manj singing the vowel sounds. this is a technique his rake master taught him to do to get rid of a headache
Panning Event Transcript:
voice automated (V.A.) narration – Centre

V.A. women speaking – 77 degrees Left
V.A. man speaking – 77 degrees Right
bathtub sound – 45 degrees Right
over all volume raised b.c. it is only one voice. When the sounds layer in I want it to be more of a perceived raised volume then an actual one.
Panning Convo with Rob:
my voice – 60 degrees Right
rob’s voice goes from 66 degrees Left to Centre when the wind picks up and he says the most relevant bit
Call and Response
my voice 25 degrees left V.A 25 right
except for “again anna? again? again?” which gradually comes towards centre from the right
with fade in’s and outs for all the clips so its not so choppy and the volume of track 5 put back to +0
important link – just discovered that the blue line in each clip is a pan envelop. I knew how to pan tracks but I never knew how to pan clips. this was always a bit of a struggle for me because I would have to organize on the clips on tracks depending on their panning.. and often there is over lap. this is important for the thick part.
the blue lines are for panning and the yellow volume. In the middle where there are only two tracks playing I think I will add another voice so that the build up is progressive. just tried it and scrap that! its better to give some space for the sounds to come in.
Finding and adding in samples from youtube: grass in the wind by the beach, gentle waves (water lapping), insect sounds Japan summer night
multiband compresser. I made a preset compresser for bathtub sounds just like the ones I made for low lighter sounds and hight lighter sounds in the transitions
It’s a bit of a balance… Ive finally found a bag that i could use to car around my recorder and slip it out easily. I’ve been thinking lately that I want to take a picture when i make field recording. my camera is very bulky and I can not handle keeping track of more than one precious thing so I’m thinking of buying some disposable cameras.
